Welcome to the UMFK Forestry department! The University of Maine at Fort Kent is located at the northern tip of the state, with millions of acres of working forest just outside our doors. We offer a 2.5-year Associate's degree in Applied Forest Management, accredited by the Society of American Foresters. Students have the option to stay on 1.5 more years for a B.Sc. in Business with a concentration in Forestry or Conservation Law Enforcement with a concentration in Natural Resouces. Our job placement rates in the field have averaged over 90% in the past ten years, and with our growing research role we're able to offer students hands-on experience in scientific fields as well as the practical forest management we have excelled at for decades.
This channel was created to house GIS tutorials by Dr. Neil Thompson for use in his GIS Applications I course. These videos supplement lab material & serve as reminders of procedures used throughout the course.
