Mr. Amarasiri Peiris was born on 21 July 1946 in Boralesgamuwa. His father Albert Peiris was a classical artiste at Radio Ceylon popular in 1940s. Albert was the first disciple of the Master musician H.W. Rupasinghe.
After studying music for A/L, he joined Heywood Institute of Art(Government College of Music-6 year vocal & instrumental degree) in 1962.
In 1969 he join SLBC as a violinist. Later promoted as Controller in Music unit & finally served as Director music before retirement.
Mr Amarasiri Peiris is a veteran Musician in Sri Lanka & has received many awards during last 3 decades as best Vocalist.
