As an independent car designer/builder, I've long been interested in Corvairs, especially the ones that might have existed, had GM not discontinued Corvair development and production. The Monza SS and GT concepts produced by Chevrolet in the early 1960s showed a direction for an entry level sports car that led to a design exploration in 2011, where I built a modern version of the SS roadster, as an experiment to experience the basic drivability of a short-wheelbase car. The most recent iteration is the updated version of the mid-engine Monza GT, currently under construction.
