Welcome to my YouTube channel.
I am Azeem Hunzai, a vocalist from the majestic Hunza Valley in Northern Pakistan. I aim to share the celebration of Gilgit Baltistan’s rich cultural heritage through folk songs and resistance poetry. I mostly sing in my Indegunious language isolate called Burushaski. I also sing in Khowar, Shina and Urdu. Across centuries the poetic intellectual tradition remains the heartbeat of folklores and resilience against political exploitation and alienation. Our indigenous intellect has been transmitted orally through poetry and yet not adequately scribed. Through my music, I aim to honor our heritage, preserving fading tunes and giving voice to the silenced. Each song is a tribute to our past, and a promise to the future to keep our culture heritage alive.
