I'm Carolyn Hyland and I've recently picked up pastel pencils and paints and started sketching and painting and have found a love of art (even though I don't know the words for stuff yet). For me it is a form of escapism, of studying an animal (I mostly love painting animals) and becoming intimate with every piece for fur and feather. In a time where everything is so fast, it is such a pleasure to be slow and thoughtful.
I work full-time but I do have a dream of being able to devote my time to art, traditional and digital and I hope with time, persistence and practice, this will one day become a reality.
I've just picked up my first few commissions just from my recent beginners art so if you are interested in a pastel portrait of your pet or anything that you love in nature, please feel free to get in contact. While I am learning my prices are very reasonable.
