Today I will officially say “Alvida/Kwaheri" to my dearest mentor Anaar Kanji.
Anaar was my first ginan trainer in 2001, until that point, I had never sung, but she quickly noticed potential in my voice and pushed me to study shastriya sangeet, it is through Anaar and her daughter Shahla that I was introduced to the Mewati Gharana. Asides from our musical connection, we also had a very deep emotional and spiritual bond; I have never met someone who is as in love with Mawla as Anaar, with His name on her every breath, she would never pass even a second without praying for others. Our relationship goes beyond just that of the two of us, our families have been connected for at least a century.
To quote Anaar herself, રૂહુને તનની ગાંઠ બંધાણી, જન્મો જનમની ગાંઠ ગંઠાણી રૂહુ વર્ષે જ્યારે તેડું આવશે, રૂહુ રૂહુમાં જયારે રીડી ભીળી જાયશે જ્યારે મુને તમે પાસે તેડાવજો સાથેને સાથે મુને હંમેશા..

Ginans are within themselves their own genre of Spiritual Music based in Shastriya & Lok Sangeet, Ginans are a tradition that is maintained by various faith groups such as the Satpanthi, Jain, and various Islamic schools of thought. I thank Shri Lalji Devraj for preserving original texts of this sacred tradition.
My channel also feature exclusive recordings of Ismaili artists including devotional & celebratory folksongs from the various Imamat Jubilees, with recordings dating back to the 1930s.
