This channel is about the preservation and maintenance of Elizabeth J. "Betty" Rumble.
Betty is a late-1968 VW Beetle, imported into the US in 1968 in Oregon and purchased there by the original owner. Her original motor and transmission are gone. Currently, she is powered by an AE 1600 DP and 1972/3 IRS transaxle. She was found and purchased off Facebook Marketplace by a fool with leftover GI Bill money and nothing to do. Betty is owned, maintained, and operated by a retired Aerospace Ground Equipment mechanic trying to keep a cool car on the road. Basic mechanical, electrical and general automotive knowledge are keeping me afloat, as is a well-budgeted pot of money for tools, parts, and so on. There are times when the struggle is real and Youtube University becomes my go to resource.
I have no intention of fully restoring Betty. Rather, I am doing what I can to keep her road worthy and somewhat of a looker in her advanced age. She has her flaws, but is still sexy in my book.
