The Scene was a historic television dance show that was produced and aired in Detroit, Michigan from October 13, 1975 to December 31, 1987 on WGPR-TV channel 62. WGPR was the first African American owned and operated TV station licensed by the FCC in The United States. WGPR-TV was sold in 1995 to CBS. Nat Morris started as co-host with Ray Henderson and he later became the sole host, Executive Producer and owner of the show. The Scene was one of the most popular local shows to air on WGPR-TV 62. The State of Michigan has recognized the site of WGPR as an historical site and in 2021, The National Register of Historic Places listed it as well. The Wm V Banks Museum of Broadcast and Media Arts now occupies the studio where The Scene was produced.
