For those of you that have asked, or are wondering, I purchased the GoPro Hero 13 on launch day and finally have it in hand as of today. I’ll be using it a lot over the next several days and will have several videos to share with you soon.
Also, there will be at least one other action camera arriving soon it seems…I’ll be buying that one as well.

GoPro has confirmed the GoPro Hero 13 will be released on 9.4.2024.
The first feature of the new body design that immediately stands out to me is what looks like a heat sink. Could this be a heat sink that effectively disperses heat and makes the GoPro 100% impervious to overheating? If so, this alone could be big.

It is anticipated that both DJI and GoPro will be releasing new flagship action cameras soon. The rumored names of these cameras are the DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro and the GoPro Hero 13, respectively. Which camera do you think is going to feature the overall, biggest upgrade from the prior model?

I had a question from an audience member today asking what I expect the GoPro Hero 13 to be like.
I decided to make a community post and share my expectations for anyone else who is interested. Please note that I have no affiliation with GoPro and these are my best-guess predictions:
- A new GP3 processor for the Hero 13 camera based on a smaller nm chip that will make certain processes more efficient and also help the camera run cooler.
- A larger sensor but probably not 1”. Maybe something like the Sony 1/1.4-inch LYT800 sensor. This specific sensor is purported by Sony to rival a 1” sensor due to how it handles the image.
- GPS being added back to the camera.
- Resolution of up to 6K 30 along with possibly 5.3K 120.
- Slightly larger display.
I expect the GoPro Hero 13 to be released in mid-September.
