It’s day one of the Self-Care Advocate challenge – with a goal to adopt holistic habits that can prevent chronic disease and rebuild your health.
This week’s theme is to reduce inflammation. One of the ways we do that is by understanding the role of refined sugar in our lives. According to the American Heart Association, men should get no more than 38 grams of sugar each day, while women should get 25 grams a day. Yet on average, the American adult consumes 77 grams each day.
This excess consumption of refined sugar contributes to chronic diseases such as diabetes, obesity, heart disease, addiction, and even tooth decay.
The goal for Day 1 is learn to read a nutrition label, and use it to track how much sugar we consume from foods and drinks.
Follow for more.

I'm Dr. Cedrick Batchateu, creator of a highly engaging chronic disease prevention program called Self-Care Advocate. As a self-care advocate, I help people adopt a holistic lifestyle to prevent chronic disease and rebuild their health. As a pharmacist, seeing people suffer inspired me to seek a holistic approach. It's time to stop managing symptoms with pharmaceuticals, and treat the root cause of diseases.
