Mesopotamian Fusion is a musical group who present the Assyrian traditional folk music in a Modern way performed by professional musicians of Syriac,Chaldean and European origins.
Our aim is to preserve and archive the Assyrian folk music of Mesopotamia presenting the ancient music and the old folk songs, from 400 AC to 1990s.
Assyrian folk music encompasses the traditional musical heritage of the Assyrian/Syriac people, who are indigenous to the Upper Mesopotamian region roughly corresponding to ancient Assyria (which includes modern-day northern Iraq, northwestern Iran, northeastern Syria, and southeastern Turkey). They are also variously self-designated as Chaldeans or Arameans, divided primarily upon religious lines. Assyrian traditional music traces its roots to ancient Mesopotamia, developing alongside the Syriac Chant and liturgical music of the Syriac Christian Rites, up until the churches suppression of non-liturgical music in c. 11th centurybardic.
