Hey folks

I don't have words to express how happy I am, 634 followers.

I know that someone else might not represent too much, but for me, it is a lot.

It is almost like, imagine, that 634 people booked a class with me, and 530 (representing the views per shorts) attended the class, 20 (representing the likes) participated, 2 (usually the number of comments) are really engaged.

You all are helping me and my family.

Thank you, thank you so much ❤️

Understanding TMJ Dysfunction

TMJ dysfunction can arise from various factors, including:

- Muscle imbalances and tightness in the jaw and neck muscles (McCarty et al., 2004)
- Dental misalignment or issues like bruxism (teeth grinding) (Okeson, 2018)
- Internal derangement of the joint itself (Wilkes, 2009)
- Stress and emotional tension (Carlsson, 2013)

These factors can disrupt the normal movement and function of the TMJ, leading to pain and dysfunction.

Myofascial Release: A Holistic Approach
Myofascial release focuses on releasing tension and restrictions in the fascia, a connective tissue network that surrounds muscles, organs, and other structures throughout the body. This release can improve flexibility, range of motion, and reduce pain.

The Somatic Perspective
The Somatic approach in myofascial release goes beyond just physical manipulation. It acknowledges the mind-body connection and the potential role of emotions in creating or perpetuating physical tension. Techniques like gentle touch and mindful awareness aim to address both the physical and emotional aspects of the dysfunction (Eriksson & Butler, 2017).

Potential Benefits of Somatic Myofascial Release for TMJ Dysfunction

- Addressing Muscle Imbalances: Myofascial release can help to release tightness and trigger points in the jaw and neck muscles, improving jaw mobility and reducing pain (Simons et al., 2019).
- Reducing Stress and Tension: The somatic approach can help to identify and release emotional tension that may be contributing to TMJ dysfunction (Gerber, 2013).
- Improving Body Awareness: Somatic myofascial release can enhance an individual's awareness of their body and how it responds to stress and tension. This awareness can empower them to manage their condition more effectively.

Conclusion

While more research is needed to definitively establish the efficacy of somatic myofascial release for TMJ dysfunction, the potential benefits are promising. If you would like to know more about this technique contact me for further details, through leosantos1981@gmail.com
