Maglev Vs. Trains was set up to address the misconceptions Americans have toward passenger train technology. As a maglev transport consultant with extensive knowledge of the design, manufacture, and relative costs of various rail and several maglev systems, I now feel compelled to put some facts out into the public sphere to counter omnipresent misinformation. First off, understand that maglev transport technology was invented by railroad engineers as a means of circumventing High-Speed Rail's negative attributes; most notably, the "Speed/Maintenance Penalty." Maglev systems all require new and unique rail/guideway infrastructure that enables fast, safe, and reliable operation. With new modular manufacturing, this infrastructure can achieve lower cost and speedier deployment than any existing traditional "steel-wheel-on-steel-rail" technology. So, why is it being ignoring?
