EXCERPT FROM EMILIO AGUINALDO
This Kundiman "harana" love song are mostly from the late 50's and early 60's. I began hearing them as I was growing up from my late mother and from neighbors, and if lucky enough from a radio of a well-to-do friend or classmate. I fell in love with Kundiman at an early age, I believe, because of it's unique melody, which, if I have to say in tagalog is "makabagbag damdamin", and also because of it's lyrics that touch the innermost feeling and heart of listeners, which if I have to say in tagalog is "tumitimo sa kaibuturan ng isang puso" ng nakikinig. I am very thankful that at this point and time, I still remember the lyrics of these songs. But I have to apologize if I don't remember who created them. I want to say that I am not really a singer and I do not know or study music. It was a sudden urge and as ardent desire at the moment, to keep the Kundiman songs alive in the heart and mind of Filipinos and the many generations to come.
