Sharing my sewing stories and bits of my life with you.
Hello fellow sewers!
I have been sewing consistently since 2020. While I benefit from learning extensively from other sewing talents from paid and free tutorials, I also just attempt many projects, make a lot of mistakes, and improve steadily that way!
"You have to make a lot of bad art before good art happens."
I feel comfortable attempting patterns labeled "confident beginner" and "intermediate" even though the things I make don't always turn out. But it helps to remind ourselves that in mastering any skill, there's always that hidden creative process where "ugly" and "bad art" happens. Learning from mistakes and persisting in making are the only way to get better.
A couple of people who inspire me to creative work (or any work at all, really) are:
Theodore Roosevelt: "Believe you can and you're halfway there."
Austin Kleon, author of "Steal Like an Artist," "Show Your Work," and "Keep Going."
