Even though I was making over $250,000 a year early in my career, I was struggling emotionally in ways I never expected.
I knowâcue the eye rolls. âPoor me, right?â đ
But honestly, I was dealing with a lot of shame and guilt.
I couldnât understand why I wasnât happy, especially when Iâd achieved more success than anyone in my family or close circle of friends.
That eventually led me to making a huge investment in myself that led what I see now was a major transformation in my life.
Here's what I learned:

Things that did NOT make a millionaire:
â Shopping less
â Cooking at home
â Cancelling cable TV
â Paying off all my debt
â Brewing my own coffee
What did make a millionaire?
â
Investing in myself
Frugality alone won't make you richâinvesting in yourself will!

This is NOT how I started.
When I first began to make some money, I wanted ALL the things.
The shiny new car, the luxury watch, the latest designer sneakersâyou name it, I craved it.
And for a while, I indulged.
But as I've acquired these things, I realized something importantâthey didn't fill the void I thought they would.
Sure, they were fun at first, but the thrill faded fast. Buying stuff often left me feeling empty, like I was chasing a high that was always just out of reach.
Today, my perspective has shifted.
I have the money for a Lambo, but I don't want one.
I have the money for a Rolex, but I don't want one. I
have the money for Dior Jordans, but I don't want them.
The truth is, these things no longer align with what truly brings me joy and satisfaction.
Now, what really gratifies me is investing in the futureâwhether thatâs in new business ventures, technology that makes a difference, or just plain saving and investing wisely.
What also satisfies me is spending time with my family, serving others in need, and coaching other entrepreneurs.
This change in mindset has not only enriched my life but also given me a sense of purpose and fulfillment that no luxury item ever could.
To anyone feeling trapped in the cycle of consumerism, know that it's never too late to shift your focus.
Look beyond the immediate gratifications of material goods to the long-term rewards of personal connections, giving back, and smart investing.
