Thinking about major issues in humanities from an Islamic perspective means thinking as a Muslim or with Muslims rather than about them. Dr Jason Idriss Sparkes is a transdisciplinary scholar trained in religious studies and languages, and specialized in Islamic arts and humanities. He is also a poet, and a Sufi munshid (singer). He is Assistant Professor of Humanities and Social Sciences at PMU in Saudi Arabia. His research interests include Islamic traditions West of Mecca, the Muslim Atlantic, Sufism, Moroccan and Spanish Islam, North American Islam, traditionalism, world-systems analysis, and global decolonization.
