Miyo and Kurage Honda both skeptical of the mainstream "royal road" of the Japanese music scene, met in 1998 via a music producer. They immediately hit it off and formed the band Coo:ya.
Coo:ya's lyrics are all in Japanese (except for their early works), due to Miyo's love for the intrinsic beauty of the language (again, I made it simpler). Their songs weave yin and yang of emotions that are universal to all human beings. Coo:ya continues to depict an agonizing, visional, and yet realistic world through their personal mind filters, without being confined to any genre of music.
As Coo:ya only releases songs that both Miyo and Honda are truly satisfied with, the unveiling of new work is highly irregular. Coo:ya does not perform live shows, which makes them a solitary band that is far away from "commercial music."
