Geelong Gaol Museum is housed in a 19th century prison in regional Victoria in Australia.
It opened in 1853 and closed in 1991 and shows the conditions prisoners had to endure over that period.
Geelong Gaol was used as a maximum security prison for men and women, an industrial school for young girls, a military detentions barracks during World War 2 but for the majority of its history, it was a hospital gaol caring for those prisoners who were old, sick dying or disabled.
Today, it is opened as a Museum during the day, and for ghost tours and paranormal investigations at night.
