The Indonesian College of Economics was founded on October 28, 1969 under the name of the Indonesian Accounting Academy (AAI) under the guidance of the Indonesian Accounting Education Foundation (YPAI), now the Jakarta Fatahillah Education Foundation (YPFJ). In 1983 AAI changed to the Indonesian Institute of Economics, abbreviated as STEI.
