Finally, some good news about inflation and mortgage rates!



The Consumer Price Index came in lower than expected.
Fed rate hikes are beginning to work.
Inflation is easing.
Mortgage interest rates are down 0.5% in the last week.
Rates touching 7% fell to mid-low 6's for a 30-year fixed.


To Buyers on the sidelines:



Properties are sitting.
Make a competitive offer below ask price.
Negotiate closing costs.
Have loan, inspection and appraisal contingencies.
Do your due diligence during a normal escrow period.


I believe we will see a rate pull back next year, and remember, you can always refinance the mortgage.

Yesterday, the Federal Reserve locked in another 0.75% interest rate hike.
The short-term borrowing rate is now at a target range of 3.75% - 4%, the highest level since January 2008.
This is the Fed's fourth consecutive 75 basis point increase. The news was expected, but investors were eagerly awaiting the Fed's future plans.
The plan: Unfortunately for the markets, the Fed's new statement expanded on its previous language - saying that “ongoing increases in the target range will be appropriate."
Stocks fell after Fed Chair Jerome Powell dismissed the idea that the Fed may be pausing interest rate hikes soon.
Markets have been rallying in anticipation that the Fed soon might start to ease back as worries grow over the longer-term impact of higher rates.


Stronger Than Expected
The job market remains stronger than expected despite ongoing recession fears and mass layoffs in the tech industry.
Companies added 239,000 positions in October (more than expected).
Wages overall rose 7.7% from a year ago.
The Federal Reserve has been raising interest rates to try and cool inflation. It wants to loosen up the historically tight labor market where job openings outnumber available workers by a 2-to-1 margin.
The details: While the headline job numbers were strong, the details weren't as pleasant. The number of construction jobs, professional services jobs, and financial activity jobs showed losses.
