Katrin Melite, in Greek for pure honey. Our apiary is situated in a region that in medieval times was known as ‘le Terre di Santa Caterina’ (lands of Saint Catherine). This saint for whom our honey is named is also the patron of this region. Melite means honey and is the name that Greeks gave to Malta. This is because in the past Malta was renowned for its delicious honey. The Maltese honeybee, Apis mellifera ruttneri, throughout the year collects nectar from local flowers and after a natural process converts it into Maltese honey.
