In 1999, Jeremy Gilley founded Peace One Day, a non-profit organization, and in 2001 Peace One Day’s efforts were rewarded when the member states of the United Nations unanimously adopted the first ever day of global ceasefire and non-violence on 21 September annually – Peace Day.
Peace and other issues of global concern - Climate Action, Anti-Racism and the mobilisation of youth - are all intimately connected. Today, Peace One Day marks four critical days in the global calendar: Anti-Racism Live 21 March, Climate Action Live 21 June, Peace Day Live 21 September and Space Transformers Live 21 December. Each of these key stations of the year plays host to a live digital event, providing a platform for discussion and action.
