Irfan Sattar originally belongs to Karachi, but have been residing in Canada since 2010. Considered amongst leading exponents of Urdu Ghazal in modern times, his first collection of poetry titled âtakrar-e-saâatâ was published from Karachi in 2005, the second collection titled âsaâat-e-imkaaNâ in 2016 from Delhi, India, and the latest book, which in fact is a selection from the first two books in 2017 from Lahore titled âyeh ishq haiâ. Irfanâs diction is deeply embedded in the classical tradition of Urdu ghazal, and yet his ideas and subjects are essentially contemporary. His work is regularly published in literary journals across the sub-continent. Irfan enjoys a significant following by serious readers of literature both in India & Pakistan. Besides poetry, he is also highly regarded for his deep understanding of the art of poetry, and criticism of classical as well as modern poetry.
