Cornwall Hospice Care has touched the lives of many people across Cornwall and beyond. The charity provides specialist care for people with a terminal illness, from the age of 18 not only in it's two hospices -- St Julia's in Hayle and Mount Edgcumbe in St Austell -- but also in hospitals and in the community. We also have our own palliative care doctors and provide Lymphoedema Clinics and support from our in house Therapy Team.
Many people who use our services come to us to receive treatment to alleviate pain and control symptoms. The care given to patients and their loved ones is provided free of charge but costs around £5.5 million annually.
Only 19% of this is funded by the government, which means that the charity relies heavily on the continued support of the general public, through our chain of charity shops, donations, fundraising events and challenges.
