The evolution of the art scene can be traced to the Stone Age, where carvings on walls denoted the outside world from A whole new perspective. We still scratch away on walls, but now the walls we work on are found in the catacombs of inner city art studios. While the tools have changed, the goal remains unchanged: to provide a lens with which to view the outside word.
Even today, the old adage of āAll roads lead to Romeā reigns true. Through the prism of contemporary art, the Rome in question is not in fact the ancient Italian city, but the art Meccas of today; New York, Paris, Istanbul, Dubaiā¦. Etc.
We here at Artifications endeavor to explore contemporary art scenes all over the world, no matter how small or out of the way. It is these artistic hinterlands that will yield our next Picassos and Basquiatsā¦āoutside the boxā thinkers. Letās explore the cultural landscape, and I, Roland Ramos, will act as your host, keeping us honed in all the way.
