Something has come up and I won't be able to host a livestream this week ๐ข
We're still on for next week, though!
I'll see you all then ๐๐คนโโ๏ธ

Another goal broken! This is the longest run that Jugglebot has gotten with 2 balls so far: a whopping 15 catches ๐
Still a lot of work to be done, but it works!
Be sure to catch this week's livestream on Friday at 11am AEST to see more ๐๐คนโโ๏ธ

New banner is live! Super exciting, and I can't wait for when the next goal is ticked off! ๐คนโโ๏ธ๐คนโโ๏ธ
If you haven't caught it already, be sure to check out my most recent livestream (#29)! The action starts around 17:50 ๐

It seems I've goosed my schedule and I'm away tomorrow, so we won't be able to have a stream this week. We're still on for next week though ๐
Until then, good luck with everything you're doing!

Oh no! For some reason I have to wait 24 hrs to livestream after clicking the "Go Live" button ๐ญWould be nice if YT made this more clear in their docs...
I guess we'll have to wait until tomorrow to do the stream. To keep things simple, let's say same time (midday AEST).
I'm excited to chat with you all ๐

Hey everyone! As a celebration of reaching 10k subscribers(!) I'm going to have a livestream next week on Tuesday (19/9) at 12 pm AEST (GMT +10) with an open forum; feel free to ask whatever you want!
If you can't make it and have something you'd like to ask, post it here and I'll try to get to it at some point ๐
Cheers for the support! ๐คนโโ๏ธ๐คนโโ๏ธ

What should a group of Jugglebots be called? I'm working on the ppt for my talk this weekend and realised I don't yet have a good word for this ๐ค
Poll doesn't let me add more than 5 options, so I'll add my (ChatGPT's) ideas as comments.
๐ the ones you like!

I've been pondering a significant change in Jugglebot's design that I wanted to share with you and get your thoughts on. Currently, Jugglebot is built on a Stewart Platform with custom linear actuators. It's been a great challenge, and we're close to having a working prototype.
However, an alternate design based on a Cable Robot has recently caught my attention (big thanks to @DerSolinski and @christopherd.winnan8701 for the suggestion!). Here's why they're cool:
Pro 1๏ธ) Simplicity and Speed: Cable Robots are generally faster and mechanically far simpler than stewart platforms. I estimate a cable robot would have ~10x fewer parts than the current stewart platform, which means far fewer things to potentially go wrong.
Pro 2๏ธ) Greater Range of Motion: AFAIK Cable Robots can (generally) cover a larger area compared to a similarly sized Stewart Platform, and the "workspace" is more favourable for juggling than that of a Stewart Platform.
But, as with any major decision, there's a trade-off:
Con) Pausing Current Design: Switching to a Cable Robot design would mean hitting the pause button on our current Stewart Platform design, which is already pretty close to functioning.
To make this transition as smooth as possible, I plan to purchase all fresh parts for the Cable Robot so we can leave the current Stewart Platform intact. This way, if needed, we can easily revert back to where we are right now.
So, here's where I need your input: Should we go for it? Do you think the switch to a Cable Robot design is worth it? Do you see other pros and cons I might have missed? I think a cable robot is the "fastest route" to Jugglebot working well, so I'm very tempted to change over ๐ค
Your opinions matter a lot to me, so please leave a comment below with your thoughts! Together, we'll decide the future of our beloved Jugglebot.

I've enjoyed making things for as long as I can remember, and juggling for almost as long. On this channel I combine these two passions by building the world's first juggling robot!
Some other projects that I'm hoping to tackle at some point are:
- Add-on for my microscope so that I can control it with a console controller
- Automated mushroom fruiting chamber that automates the entire process of mushroom growing
- AI controlled laser pointer to entertain my cats so that they leave me alone when I'm trying to work
