Bluegrass music is a genre of American roots music that developed in the 1940s in the Appalachian region of the United States. Guitars are used primarily for rhythmic purposes to provide a base melody. Other instruments may provide a solo on top of the guitar during breaks. After the 60s, the guitar was used much more to take care of solo parts as well. The reason is that some guitarists like Doc Watson, Clarence White and Tony Rice started playing the fiddle tunes. The main purpose of this site is to promote flatpicking worldwide. Also playing the guitar by Clarence White with his hybrid right hand technique as well as his fantastic guitar playing on the later Fender Telecaster with his stringbender. (B-Bender)
