About

Great Parks of Hamilton County was created in 1930 with a parcel of land that became Sharon Woods. Over the years, with the support of Hamilton County residents, the Park District has grown to 21 parks and preserves, spanning 17,700 acres. Approximately 80% of the land is preserved for natural habitats and wildlife. Old-growth forests, young woodlands and restored prairie and wetlands provide food and shelter for a diversity of species, from the common squirrel to the resurging American bald eagle.

There is plenty of fun for people too, as visitors can enjoy a wide variety of outdoor recreation and education. The parks feature three campgrounds, seven golf courses, eight lakes for fishing and boating, river access for paddling and many picnic areas. Visitors can take advantage of miles of both paved and nature trails, athletic fields and leagues, playgrounds and disc golf.
