Greetings all! Big announcement here: I just launched a brand new YouTube channel called: "Shoestring Shipyard." I've had a website by that same name since 1997. Since I've been creating a lot more boating content lately and given this channel is such a eclectic mix of topics, it was time to "specialize" and start the new channel with exclusive boat building, boat repair, and boat related content. Please check it out and it will be a huge help if you would subscribe and "ring the bell." It would also help tremendously if you would share the channel to help me expand it's reach. Right now, there is just an introduction video and a repackaged, streamlined version of my 8' dinghy tutorial overview so people can get a taste of what is in the 26 part tutorial to follow (I'll also be re-editing and slip-steaming those episodes as well). In addition to the repackaged boating content, I'll be adding all the new boating stuff here. There will be a few giveaways on this channel so check it out and stay tuned!

This past week's video was the first part of DIY net making and featured a DIY "net needle" (or shuttle as it is sometimes called). I'm working on part two which shall focus on the knot I prefer to use and starting an actual net. I recently received a comment on Part one, essentially stating I should focus on actual work and leave out all the commentary (introduction, weather status, and everything else not related to the subject matter). At the same time, I've heard from others that they like to know what's going on up here in Downeast Maine. I'd like to get more feedback from everyone to determine what the majority of people want to see in my videos. I'm working on creating a podcast where all of the talking/commentary can take place. I could begin making my videos "Jimmy Diresta style" where I don't say one word for the most part, but simply show a build taking place at a very high speed pace with a music background. Jimmy Diresta typically does not say anything in his videos (at least the older ones). Although even Jimmy strays from the subject matter now and then, adding artistic scenes and clips, and so forth. I'm asking what you would prefer to see in future videos. If you have any suggestions for future project content, I'd like to know that too. I'd like to shape and improve my videos so they are better for you. Please help me out by taking the time to comment, send an email, or contact me any other way. Thanks!

@Downeast Thunder Creations will not be posting a new video on Friday, November 29th. This is due to the Thanksgiving holiday and I've been taking time off to spend with my family this past week. Happy Thanksgiving to all of you and thanks for subscribing to my channel. - Paul B.

@Downeast Thunder Creations has Finally started the actual construction of the 18' sailboat. The strongback was completed this week, and I have cut out the transom and forward collision bulkhead from 3/4" plywood. More news - After years of having to put up very crappy DSL internet service from a provider that did no maintenance and let the equipment run down where it performed at bout the speed of "dial-up," a new provider has come to town with wireless internet service ! It's light years ahead of what we had and is super fast compared with what we are used to. Instead of uploading videos in crappy low definition, I can now upload videos in high-def with much better resolution. Certainly an increase in quality. You should begin seeing a big difference in my videos beginning with the next one on Friday, 13 September 2019.

Downeast Thunder Creations offers quite an eclectic mix of subject matter. Much of it contains "how-to" style videos on a variety of subjects commonly found around the farm and homestead. There are travel videos featuring local destinations here in Downeast Maine and you'll also find boat building and boat related subjects as well. I also have a second channel called Shoestring Shipyard" which is a dedicated boat related channel. There is a third YouTube channel on the horizon that will be dedicated to sailing and sailboat cruising in the near future. You will find many free plans and drawings here for many of my projects that are downloadable in pdf format. People have offered me various tools and equipment they no longer need along with a few items for my sailboat and need a shipping address: Both Downeast Thunder Creations and Shoestring Shipyard are located at 56 Shop Hill Road, Milbridge Maine 04658
