Today we are offering my online course in a brand new “Self-Guided” version. It’s available at an introductory discount of $50 off for the next few days. How much money do you think you’ve wasted on bits you regretted buying in the last 5 years?
I, and many others, believe that this information should be required learning before you own a horse. There’s WAY more in here than simple bit fitting and this is a solid and proven resource, unlike the unvetted social media groups. I’ve even heard you can get herpes if you sit down or share lip balm in some of those groups…
You’ll gain access to a new module each week for 6 weeks. You’ll have a total of 12 weeks to complete the course so don’t worry about the holidays. You’ll also get several exclusive bonus articles and 2 bonus Special Guest video recordings from our MasterClass courses’ zoom meetings, plus my Quick Bitting Guide.
Plan on taking 2-3 hours per week to go through the modules and complete the module’s study guide. Each module is broken up into a series of easy to watch videos ranging from 5-25 minutes. You will also be given a few tasks to complete with your horse along the way to make sure you’re implementing what you’ve been taught.
The content is not dry or overly complicated. It is very thorough, easy to understand, and well organized. Physics included is at a high school level, so don’t be intimidated. We’re all about accessible and practical here. Many people report watching it all the way through two or more times. You can also make comments under the videos to ask questions specific to the part you’ve just watched, for me to answer, all within the course.
Work at your own pace over the 12 weeks, but we have the deadline in there to incentivize finishing what you’ve paid for. 80% of purchasers of online courses never finish. Our MasterClass courses thusfar, have had completion rates well over 90%. We can’t help you and your horse if you don’t watch and learn the information.
The modules are organized to focus on various components of the total picture like:
¡ anatomy and physiology
¡ how to use your hands most effectively
¡ all of the fitting and set-up to keep in mind
¡ all about snaffles
¡ and 2 modules just dealing with the more complex world of leverage bits
Each module’s study guide is there to help you retain the information and emphasize the core principles.
Up until now, we’ve only offered this course in a MasterClass version. In that version, we also have weekly Zoom meetings with me and that course’s group. We’ll be starting our next MasterClass course in February of 2025. That version also allows you to test to become a Certified Master Bitter and it contains a new 7th module (that I’m still working to complete, hence the delay until Feb.). If you choose to get the self-guided course now, you can take the MasterClass course later, at a discount, since you’ve already paid for this version.
I am confident that if you take this course, your riding and relationship are both going to improve greatly. There’s FAR MORE to this stuff than you’d believe until you’re into it. The information and way we’ve made it understandable has no equal. To back up that belief, we’ve got a 7-day money back guarantee. You’ve nothing to lose and a lot to gain. Your path to bits and bitting enlightenment is located at this link: thebitcourse.com/self-guided-home

We'll be having a virtual clinic Nov. 16-17. There are 6 riding spots left for an hour each, Saturday and Sunday. These spots would be for an hour, both days, and begin at 10:30 am CST (UTC -5). You can be in another country or even on another continent and we can still get eyes on your horse handling and help. We've worked on trailer loading to bringing horses back into work with physical issues. It's your time. I don't care how we spend it or what we work on. This clinic is also auditable and auditors can ask questions in the chat, or during 15 minute breaks between riders. Take advantage! Sign up or find out more here: dauphinhorsemanship.com/virtual-clinic/

Horses exist in the present. They're not thinking about tomorrow or yesterday. They don't even have to try to be present, while most of us do.
Their present is also shorter than yours. One of the best tips that I could ever give you is to take more breaks, more often. If you "trained" your horse for an hour and only stopped twice to let them rest and soak, you just wasted 50 minutes of both of your lives.

The last episode of The Adult Onset Horsemanship Podcast had guest Patrick King. ‪@PatrickKingHorsemanship‬ and I talked about many things, ending in the ethics and moralities of the horse world. We get into the recent controversy of Charlot Dujardin and more. I think this is a must listen for anyone concerned about the future of the horse industry.

Ep. 49 of the Adult Onset Horsemanship Podcast is Live. Gillian Higgins, of Horses Inside Out was a fellow presenter at The Masterson Method, Integrated Equine Performance Bodywork International Gathering this past April. I appreciated her depth of knowledge and passion for horses, as well as her sense of humor. If you've seen horses with the muskuloskeletal system painted on them so you could watch those systems at work on a moving horse, you've seen her work or someone who stole her idea.
Gillian has a working knowledge of the biomechanics of the horse that few can claim. She's an internationally sought speaker, author, and clinician. If you're a biomechanics geek, this one's for you. If you're not, there's still a lot of solid and useful informaiton in here that everyone should know for the protection of their horses.
You can find Adult Onset Horsemanship on all major podcast directories, like Apple Podcasts, Spotify, etc, as well as on Youtube, or follow the link in the comments to stream it directly from the website page for this episode. All of Gillian's links are on that website page or in the show notes.

Virtual Lessons:

Folks, I was wary of the kind of lesson I could deliver virtually at first too. Then I had one with a lady in Canada with a bolting horse about 2 years ago. I watched her work him over some ground poles, and the horse had that hint of neurological problems to my eye. I advised she get her vet to check for EPM. The vet did and said it was only the 2nd case he'd seen in 25 years. The horse was treated and a month later we were back to lessons, minus the bolting.

So, here's the deal. You contact me and we get the lesson scheduled. You can be in a different time zone or even outside the U.S. No worries. They are done at an hourly rate and pre-paid via PayPal or other online merchant. It's your time. You paid for it. If you want to ride more than one horse, that's fine. If you just want to work on groundwork, a specific issue, or just general horsemanship skills, we will. You need, at minimum, a smartphone or tablet (with a good internet connection) and wireless earbuds. If you have someone who can hold the device and follow you, that's even better, but honestly not required. We do these over a Zoom Meeting. That means even beyond what I could do for an in person lesson, there's a recording. You can go back and see what I see and re-listen to what I had to say, as many times as you like. There's no extra charge for the recording or any hidden stuff like that.

I genuinely believe that these lessons are a really great option, especially if you're too far away to haul to me, and we don't have a clinic near you. Hit me up and let's see what we can do to help you level up!
