Matt Hales is a songwriter, musician and record producer who has performed professionally as Aqualung since the early 2000s. Aqualung is best known in the UK for the song "Strange and Beautiful", which featured on a television advertisement for Volkswagen Beetle ad and went on to become a Top 10 hit in the UK in 2002.
As a songwriter and record producer, Hales has collaborated with Olivia Dean, Lianne La Havas, Tom Chaplin, Lucy Schwarz, For King & Country, Leona Lewis, Jason Mraz, Sara Bareilles, Paloma Faith, Disclosure, Alex Clare, Bat For Lashes and many others.
Matt continues to work on his own music and also has a side project with Italian violinist & string arranger Davide Rossi called Søren Lorensen, releasing their first album ‘Lake Constance’ in 2020.
The most recent Aqualung album 'Dead Letters' is available now in the Aqualung Official Store along with the first 2 Aqualung albums now available on vinyl for the very first time.
