Otopsy’s music is a colourful fusion of local folk island sounds, reggae beats and soulful ballads. Born on the small island of Timor-Leste during the Indonesian occupation, Otopsy’s lyrics weave mystical stories of his island home and its struggle for independence with rousing anthems calling for social justice. Singing in his native languages Fataluku and Tetun as well as English, Otopsy’s music is inspired by an eclectic mix of reggae, folk, rap and roots rock.
From main stage act to the streets of Dublin Otopsy has played venues across Timor-Leste, Australia,and Ireland. His songs have been featured in films and documentaries. Otopsy is the lead singer of popular Timorese band Klamar. Their first album ‘Hakmatek’ was released in 2014. Otopsy can be found around Dublin, busking, learning to be a dad, and recording his first solo album.
