RIP to the legendary, Kris Kristofferson. He was a creative maverick who helped develop our law country, he started in numerous huge blockbusters and write classics for numerous artists. One thing about him I really admire was his support for SinĂ©ad O’Connor, particularly after her controversial appearance on Saturday Night Live in 1992, where she tore up a photo of Pope John Paul II in protest of sexual abuse within the Catholic Church. This act led to widespread condemnation and backlash. Days later, at a Bob Dylan tribute concert, O’Connor faced boos from the audience.

During that event, Kristofferson introduced her as “an artist whose name has become synonymous with courage and integrity.” When the crowd turned hostile, instead of escorting her off the stage, Kristofferson comforted her, saying, “Don’t let the bastards get you down.” O’Connor, in response, assured him she wasn’t defeated and courageously continued her performance.

Years later, Kristofferson penned a tribute song, “Sister SinĂ©ad,” which praised her bravery and lamented how her message had been misunderstood. He continued to stand by her, recognizing her as a bold truth-teller, even when many others had abandoned her.

Kristofferson’s defense of O’Connor has since been remembered as a key moment in her career, symbolizing solidarity during one of her most challenging periods.

He was a true gentleman.

As he wrote in Me and Bobby McGee:

“I’d trade all my tomorrows for one single yesterday”

Dame Maggie Smith: Timeless Legend (1934–2024)

With heavy hearts, we say goodbye to Dame Maggie Smith, a woman whose talent, grace, and resilience transcended time and defied age. For decades, Maggie captivated us with her extraordinary performances, proving that artistry knows no bounds—not even age. In an industry often unkind to older women, Maggie stood tall, breaking barriers and challenging ageism, continuing to deliver iconic roles with the same brilliance, wit, and depth throughout her life.

She wasn’t just an actress, she was a master of her craft, embodying every character with such authenticity that we felt her presence long after the curtain fell. Whether as the fiercely intelligent Professor McGonagall or the razor-sharp Dowager Countess, Maggie showed that age only deepens talent, adding layers of wisdom and nuance to every performance.

Her battle against ageism wasn’t just a personal triumph, but an inspiration to generations of women, reminding us all that one’s worth isn’t diminished by the passage of time. Her success in the later years of her career stands as a testament to her incredible talent and the power of perseverance, breaking the mold and setting new standards for what “growing older” can look like in the spotlight.

Offscreen, Maggie was a beacon of strength and humility. Despite the challenges she faced, including health struggles, she remained a symbol of grace and courage. Her kindness, humor, and unwavering dedication to her craft will be forever remembered by those fortunate enough to witness her genius.

Dame Maggie Smith has left us, but her legacy—both as a groundbreaking artist and a trailblazer in fighting ageism—will live on. The world is richer for having known her, and though her presence will be deeply missed, her light will never dim in the hearts she touched and the boundaries she pushed.

Rest in peace, Maggie. You’ve shown us all that time cannot diminish greatness, and you will forever be our legend.

I’ve made a video detailing one of my all time favourite singers who I believe is extremely underrated. Cyndi Lauper has received very little commercial success after 1986, but the reasons behind it are more complicated than you might think. I hope you enjoy it â€Ș@jonnyharvey‬ .
