Hi, I'm Derek. This vlog is about my local swans. It is a glimpse into the behaviour of the family of swans living on Dedridge Pond, Livingston, West Lothian, Scotland.
The channel will provide a chronological sequence of video clips of the swans and their cygnets. The pond is adjacent to the Lanthorn Community Centre.
The cob (male) is currently ringed as TJJ; before that he was PCA. The pen (female) is currently ringed as TUU; before that she was SSH and before that PTH. You can also tell them apart by the colour of the protuberance (‘blackberry’) at the base of the beak. TJJ’s is pure black while the female’s has a slight intrusion of white. I'm given to understand that the pair have been breeding in Dedridge Pond since 2015.
