The Octet Cantabile, one of the foremost ensembles, from Chennai, South India, is a group of eight mixed voices that had its inception in 1994.
With all their singing involving music being set in four to eight parts, they sing in English, Latin, a few European and local Indian languages.
The Octet Cantabile has sung over 300 concerts, in various parts of the India, Singapore, Malaysia, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah and Qatar. They have done concerts in the US and UK too.
They have completed Advanced Level in Ensemble singing – an examination conducted by the Trinity College of Music, London – with distinction. They have released some of their music in CDs, numbering 10, which have reached the world over.
The ensemble celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2019.
