A 18 de Fevereiro de 1850, um grupo de trabalhadores, liderado por Manuel de Nóbrega, funda a "Filarmónica dos Artistas Funchalenses" para divulgação da arte musical e ocupação dos seus tempos livres.
A 8 de Abril de 1925, como recompensa dos serviços prestados à Câmara Municipal do Funchal, recebe o título de Banda Municipal do Funchal.
Actualmente a Banda Municipal do Funchal uma das banda mais antigas de Portugal, sem paragem de actividades desde a sua criação

At February 18, 1850 the group of workers, led by Manuel de Nobrega, founded the "Philharmonic of Artists Funchalenses" for dissemination of musical art and occupation of Their leisure time.
At April 8, 1925, as a reward for services rendered to the Municipality of Funchal, receives the title of the Municipal Band of Funchal.
Currently the Municipal Band of Funchal is one the the oldest band Portugal without stop since its creation Activities
