Medical Coding and Billing is the process of identifying diagnoses, medical tests, treatments, and procedures found in clinical documentation and then transcribing this patient data into standardized codes to bill government and commercial payers for physician reimbursement.
CPC Medical coding training objectives:
Identify the purpose of the CPT®, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS Level II code books.
Understand and apply the official ICD-10-CM coding guidelines.
CIC Medical coding training objectives:
Understand the official ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS coding guidelines for diagnoses and procedures.
Understand the Uniform Hospital Discharge Data Set (UHDDS) coding guidelines.
Differentiate between inpatient and outpatient services and payment methodologies (IPPS and OPPS).
Understand the difference between MS-DRGs and APC assignments, and how those services are reported.
