Sassafras! is a Eugene Oregon based acoustic trio playing a unique signature blend of laid-back roots rock, sultry southern Americana, and foolish folk, with a smattering of Celtic and originals. Acoustic playfulness with vocal harmonies, humorous ditties, and heart-felt ballads. Brent Hample (guitar/vocals) Virgil Cater (percussion/vocals) and Kamden Flowers (vocals).
Brent was raised in Oregon, playing guitar since age four, and honing his chops on jazz trumpet in college. He has played in many bands over the years. Kamden grew up in North Texas, surrounded by blues, bluegrass, and country music, often singing along with her father to doo wop, folk, and big bands. She played trombone, sang in a-cappella honor choir, and was a classical pianist. Virgil was born and raised in the South, playing percussion at an early age. He picked up the Irish tin whistle about thirty years ago.
