Ajay Shankar Prasanna, one of the leading International flautists of India, was born in a family of musicians .He received his training in Flute from his father- Pt. Bhola Nath Prasanna from the Banaras Gharana who is also the Guru of Pt. Hari Prasad Chaurasia. A TOP grade artist at the All India Radio, Ajay has been nominated thrice for GRAMMY AWARD. Pt. Ajay Prasanna has also won "Global Indian Music Award" in the best fusion music album category for the album "Cinema" He has received the "Sangeet Ratna Award" by Swami Haridas Samiti, Vrindavan and "Surmani Award" by Surshringar Sansad, Mumbai. Ajay Prasanna has also received the honorable "Bharat Gourav Samman" by the Orissa Academy of Tribal Culture Research & Performing Arts. A rare combination of innovator and traditionalist, he has significantly expanded the expressive possibilities of North Indian classical Flute through his masterful blowing techniques.
