Welcome to Ptarmigan Trains
My layout of Ptarmigan Moor has been 25 years in the making, constantly evolving to meet my changing mood, explore new ideas, and serve the needs of a family as they grow up.
It is still evolving but is coalescing around the depiction of Goathland on the North York Moors Railway doubling as as Hogsmeade Station, with Hogwarts Castle seen in the background along with Hogsmeade village, a Quidditch pitch, the Black Lake, Greenhouses, Whomping Willow, and more. The line runs, of course, to Platform 9 3/4 at Kings Cross; Diagon Alley is accessed via a pub. Scenery is still being added as the main focus is is actually running trains.
It is nothing like my first two layouts which were much smaller end to end branch lines, the second boasting a small steam storage area with turntable.
I am working on content about my layout; in the meantime enjoy some Heritage Steam and vintage footage of Preserved Welsh Narrow Gauge Trains.
