Shipsea is a music project founded by singer, songwriter and audio producer JÄnis Å ipkÄvics. Once a member and co-founder of the a cappella groupĀ Cosmos, he also co-foundedĀ Dora, NepÄriet and Instrumenti. The latter have toured all around the globe and has opened for Bjƶrk, Arcade Fire, Whale Watching Tour, Mika, Depeche Mode and others. JÄnis has collaborated with Gidon Kremer and the orchestraĀ Kremerata Baltica, shared the stage with Bobby McFerrin and sang at Marina AbramoviÄ' long durational performanceĀ The CleanerĀ at the Modern Art Museum in Stockholm. Compositions by Å ipkÄvics have been performed by numerous choirs and orchestras across Europe, at the International Sacred Music Festival in Riga and at the 54th Venice Art Biennale. He has scored theatre plays and motion pictures. JÄnis plays various instruments and loves collaborating with an invisible choir.
