Dictatorship or command rule or autocracy is a form of government where a single leading person (dictator) or group (e.g. party, junta, family) exercises all power in an absolute manner, without being limited by any law or institution.
The source of the main state power (government power) is not the will of the people, and the leadership does not (or barely) tolerates political pluralism and independent media.
Dictatorship is an autocracy, i.e. the repressive power of a person or group that ignores the laws of the state, relies on violent organizations, and is sanctioned by exceptional laws.
Its leader is most often the dictator.
