On February 6, 2023, at 04:17 am local time, one of the worst earthquakes in modern times struck Turkey & Syria. It measured as a magnitude 7.8 earthquake, the largest earthquake recorded in Turkey since 1939. It caused extremely widespread damage throughout southern & central Turkey, as well as damage in northern & western Syria. Unfortunately, at 13:24 on the same day, a magnitude 7.5 earthquake struck north of the M7.8's epicenter, causing further widespread damage. In total, these two earthquakes caused $163.6 billion USD in damages to Turkey & Syria, and unfortunately killed 59,259 people in both countries. My goal with this channel is to preserve the footage recorded on that historic day.
