Birds don't get electrocuted sitting on power lines because they are not good conductors of electricity, and the power lines are designed to have low resistance. When a bird lands on a power line, it and the wire are at the same electrical potential, meaning there is no difference in charge that would create an electric shock. Additionally, birds have an insulating layer of feathers, which further protects them from electric shock. However, if a bird were to touch two wires at once or touch a wire and another object with a different electrical potential, it could create a pathway for electricity to flow through the bird's body, resulting in electrocution.
