Because of an infection in my hand due to a very scared Kitty biting me I'm not allowed to use my hand for a couple of more days. I still want to make a new video however and though I can't actually Forge right now, lest the infection spread, I certainly can make other kinds of videos. The one I'm thinking about is a question-and-answer type video.
Ask me any question you like about blacksmithing or myself and I will likely include it in the video and of course I'll give you a shout out

My birthday is in exactly 1 week and to celebrate I'm going to be having a birthday livestream.
Thinking about calling it "Hooking 4 my Birthday". Going to be making some hooks and perhaps Rhiannon (my wife) will try her hand at making one.

Posts have been few and far between since my surgery. I thank you for your patience and understand as I healed. now I'm feeling a lot better, still not 100% but it's time to get back to business.
How the work has piled up over the last little bit. I cant wait to get to everything. It feels so good to be back in the forge again!

As mentioned in my "Quest for 4k" video I am recreating a historical find of a viking axe. The axe I want to make is from a famous Death House find in Denmark. The axe in particular is a Dane axe and it is massive. Problem is it is too big for my propane forge and due to a fire ban I cannot use my coal forge. So I scaled it down to the maximum workable size with the forge I currently can use. (I will be building a new forge after we get the 4k camera)
This is the template for what will be the biggest axe I have yet to make!
Side by side comparison. The soap stone outline is what the size of the actual axe was. The picture is the scaled down print (with checkered ruler for reference. Each checker is 1cm) and the aluminum plate below is the template to be used when forging the axe.
What would you say that ratio is? 70% the size of the original?
