Warrawong Wildlife Sanctuary is a national treasure. It was founded in 1969 by Dr John Wamsley and his wife Proo. The Sanctuary is home to platypus, koalas, wallabies, bandicoots... It is testament to what can be achieved by passionate members of the public.
The fox, cat, and rabbit proof fence around the Sanctuary was revolutionary when first erected. Today it stands as proof that Australian native animals flourish when introduced predators are removed from their environment.
On January 6 2017, Warrawong Wildlife Sanctuary was purchased by Narelle MacPherson and David Cobbold. They consider themselves custodians of a legacy, and aim to restore the Sanctuary for the benefit of animals and humans alike.
