It was an absolute honor to meet with Sally Dark Rides founder John Wood. His contributions to the dark ride market make him a well deserving member of the IAAPA Hall of Fame.
He also confirmed that he did indeed comment on my Mine of Lost Souls video earlier this year. I'm truly blessed to have one of the most important people in the industry as a viewer. Kudos!

SBF Visa has reimagined the classic Rotor Ride! This ride, called the Zero Gravity, uses centrifugal force to stick riders to the wall before dropping the floor. This ride has the benefit of a translucent drum! Very cool!
The first one in the U.S. opened this year at Casino Pier. Previously, they opened in places like Dubai and Germany. But I'd love to see more around here!

For a brief moment, I messed up big time. In my eagerness to get a video out to cover the Kingda Ka news, I had a video up for about ten minutes about how Kingda Ka was NOT being torn down. However, I missed a crucial update in the process.
Kingda Ka IS being torn down (I think) and replaced with an entirely new launched coaster. ElToroRyan reached out to the park to clarify their announcement earlier today. They said the coaster would be "completely new" but didn't give specifics beyond that.
Spokesman Mark Villari Jr. said:
βWhat was cutting-edge roller coaster technology 20 years ago has been surpassed by more modern advancements,β Villari Jr. said. βThis has challenged operations and contributed to an inconsistent guest experience. Weβre excited to debut a completely new, multi-record-breaking launch coaster in 2026.β
Here he explained that the outdated technology led to an inconsistent guest experience, and the sudden closure was due to the merger. Specifically, the merger led to quick decisions being made, and one of them was the decision to close Kingda Ka and replace it with a newer launched coaster.
βSince the finalization of the merger between Six Flags and Cedar Fair, weβve been moving quickly to solidify our future plans. Our focus remains on enhancing the guest experience, and to stay on track for a 2026 opening, we had to make quick decisions to begin construction.β

I am SO excited. Did you know there is a website that's basically a Rotten Tomatoes for roller coasters? It's called Captain Coaster. This website has allowed hundreds of well-traveled enthusiasts to meticulously rate pretty much everyone existing coaster on earth. Interestingly enough, the 10 lowest ranked coasters are mostly unknown, coming from countries like China, Cyprus, and Poland. You can expect a video on the worst ranked coasters and possibly one on the best ranked coasters too!
