Hey guys! I’m really torn about what to do with my KconLA footage. Good news/bad news:
Good News is that my 2 copyright strikes from Taylor Swift have just lapsed off of my channel, and we are never ever ever getting back together, so I’m no longer in immediate danger of instant deletion..
Bad News - except that I still am. While we were still attending Kcon another fancammer I know got 2 copyright strikes from CJENM for some of his Kcon content. He had lots of other videos up at the time and if they had struck a 3rd his whole channel would’ve poofed. If they had struck a single video of mine.. channel go poof.
His cams are always high quality, I flatter myself to think that mine are usually pretty good as well. Reactors all know to steer clear of Korean network content, but up until recently Kcon was ‘for the fans’ and, as far as I know, fan recorded content was safe. But it seems that since CJENM started selling streams and vods for Kcon they maybe don’t like high quality fancams being available for free.
I currently have more than 3 videos up from 2023, and all my videos still up from 2022. It would take a ton of work to move everything somewhere else that may be safer. Maybe somewhere that rhymes with Slaytreon? But it would be orders of magnitude more work, maybe impossible, to rebuild from scratch.
I hate to put my cams behind a wall, I’m a fan just like you guys and I like sharing my stuff with the fandoms and supporting the artists trying to get more exposure, especially abroad.. but I don’t really see another viable option?
If companies don’t want people to see a video it’s just as effective to claim the content and then block the video either regionally or globally. The Japanese record companies do this all the time. There’s absolutely no need to nuke a channel from orbit, but unfortunately youtube makes it really easy for companies to file claims against channels and really hard for channel owners to contact an actual human to talk about these things and get strikes removed/reversed.
Really frustrating. I’ve got some good stuff from day 3 that I’d love to just put out there. So anyway, that’s why KconLA content has been popping up and then vanishing from my channel, and will continue to do so while I wrestle with this.
Any questions or comments? If you guys wanted to contact/tweet to Kcon and/or KconUSA to let them know that you’ve heard that videos have been getting copyright strikes (please don’t mention any channel names) and you’d really rather they didn’t do that, that would be cool 😎

10k subs! 대박! Thanks so much to all of you, especially all the Blinks and Midzy who have been so supportive of my fancams from the last couple of weeks.
I made it to 19 Kpop concerts this year, and I’ve enjoyed sharing something of those experiences with their respective fandoms & the rest of the Kpop Stanisphere. I don’t know if I’ll be able to match that next year, but I’d like to try. Honestly I’d like to round out this year at an even 20.. I’ll have to see if I can do something about that.
Anyway, thanks again for hanging out with me, and continue to look forward to more fancams/unboxings/reactions and general Kpopery in the future.
