Gayathri Vijayalekshmi is a Trivandrum based Bharatanatyam dancer and 58 year old retired professor.
This is the second innings of her dance career. At the age of 26 she put a hold to dance and choose teaching as her career. After 26 years, post retirement as the Professor and Head, Dept of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, TKM College of Engineering, Kollam, she started learning Bharathanatyam again.
She started learning dance at the age of nine and began Bharatanatyam at the age of 14 under Guru P.G. Janardhanan Master, Vadanappally. Then in her 20s, she started training under Guru Smt V Mydhili, of Midhilalaya Dance academy, Thiruvananthapuram. Guru Smt V Mydhili once again guided and groomed her to get into the world of Bharatanatyam after the long break .
During the last 5 years she have performed in more than 50 stages & in several online platforms.
